Throwing up Hail Mary's and workin' miracles!

Hi readers!
Your still with me? Awesome. Well a quick update. I am now employed with a firm, love the job, love my boss, enjoy every minute of what I do-even when I'm irritated...which is what it comes to pretty often (but is still fun...is that possible...any-who...)

It absolutely cracks me up when companies ask you to come up with free ways to advertise that will ricochet some grand return on their absent investment. Yeah sure, and during lunch I will find the cure to the common cold and finally organize world peace. ಠ_ಠ

Yet and still I put on my best smile and tell them I will put my mind to this matter and bring back some ideas.......

WELL THIS TIME IT WORKED! G.T.F*.O.O.H.!

The company I work for now is in an affluent neighborhood (they don't come out and about for beans) in a sub-prime location (there is NO foot traffic) and sells a product that is reliant on the availability of disposable income. How do I get the customer down here? Appeal to their heart.

I found a cause that both our customers and our employees are passionate about and we will be organizing an annual community collection! Brilliant, right!  The charity will advertise us on their site and when potential customers come to donate items we will give them a receipt for tax deduction... neatly be tucked away in our company's information jacket. We win because although we aren't selling anything; we get people to visit our office, we give them our info to take home, and now they will see our company for the caring people we are rather than "those randoms down the hill".  My hope is that this event will help the community get to know and think of us the next time they need our services and that the charity will be able to continue the great work that it is doing.

The charity wins, the community wins and we win. Its a win-win-win! Now that's something to say AMEN to!

Walking for my cups

A friend and I have put together a team to participate in a local Breat Cancer walk with the American Cancer Society. This is a subject very dear to both of our hearts so we are very excited to participate.

I used this opportunity to design a team logo and write a few things for team usage. Since this will be something that we intend to do annually, we will be able to reuse our materials for t-shirts and promotional material. If you would like to donate to our team please visit our site here.

For the purposes of showing my ability, here is the finished product.

.....I need a paper bag......

Okay not really but I am VERY excited! I am bringing my portfolio to view which actually contains: an ad about myself, my cover letter, resume, short article of my activity here on S.R. Henson Marketing, pull out business card and spec ads in Magazine format. Glossy paper and all! The cherry on top is the back cover thank you note and functional Q R code leading those with the capability (most with iPhones) back to this page for a refresher on who I am. If you scanned the bar code and are reading this- Welcome! Thank you for your time and effort.

Hey if your gonna go-go all out! I am waiting to hear back from the Linc on if I can bring drinks. I would really like to offer each person I sit with a cold classic coke-in a glass bottle of course.

Why?

Because....

Updates!

I have had some great opportunities open up...word of mouth truly is a great and underestimated tool! Most of the work I a have been doing involved logo design and preliminary research. I was recently asked to assist in positioning a new program to the local YMCA! Yaaaay! I love the Y and the work they do and will be working behind the scenes with Mrs. Traci Carter, Director of Honk 4 Education. The program is designed to help the county YMCA raise money for programs and operational funds that the center is seriously need of. I love the program and I am very happy to be able to help. Right now, I am working on branding and identifiers, a logo, a promo packet and linking up with media outlets to get the word out there about this wonderful program. Thank you Mrs. Carter!

In other (Carter) news, one of my clients has now introduced his company (and logo) so I can now post it here! (Out of respect for the client and him having control over the introduction of his company I did not release it earlier) You can now find the logo for Carter's In-House Productions and Entertainment in my portfolio! Mr. Carter is CEO and Executive Producer of the Production company that currently records and presents musical artists and poets. Thank you Mr. Carter!
